The skiing season is just beginning, and depending where you live you may have world class skiing in your back yard. Make the most of your opportunities this holiday season and try out all the resorts available to you, you will not regret it. Just don’t forget your winter coat.
- A number of ski resorts opened over Thanksgiving weekend, including the “big three” in the Catskills: Hunter, Windham and Belleayre.
- Hunter, in the Northern Catskills near Tannersville, had just 11 inches last year and already has totaled more than a foot of snow. Hunter opened with 11 runs and four lifts and as is typical, already had base depths of more than four feet in places.
- Skiing in the East got off to a rip-roaring start this holiday weekend when the Audi FIS World Cup alpine racing circuit made its way to Killington, in central Vermont.
