Skiing is a traditional winter sport designed to encourage tourism to support communities in the area. The most recent skiing events in Gosaikunda and Suryakunda had participants from 7 countries plus the hometown Napoli nationals. This year the 12-day winter sport hosted 75 participants, of which 25 were from other countries during the last 12 wonderful days of December. Snow fall during the event made a positive impact in drawing tourists spectators to a pleasant winter event.
- The renowned winter sport, skiing, was held in Gosaikunda area with an aim to promote tourism.
- A total of 75 players took part in the event which included 50 Nepali nationals and 25 foreigners from the US, the UK, Chile, Austria, Germany, Sweden and France.
- The winter sport which started on December 18 was made more interesting with snowfall in the alpine regions on Sunday.
“The event was held with an aim to contribute towards promotion of community-based tourism, said Himalayan Ski Sport Pvt Executive Director, Lalit Bahadur Shrish. The game was held in the snow-capped areas of Gosaikunda and Suryakunda.”
